Governor's House "captures my heart. I just might move in permanently." - Southern Living Favorites-Best of the South

Radiant with 18th century elegance, the former Governor's mansion is a majestic Charleston inn reflecting the city's rich romantic history. In the late 1700's, during the presidencies of George Washington and John Adams, Governor's House was the residence of Governor Edward Rutledge, South Carolina patriot, statesman and the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence. Henrietta Middleton, the Governor's wife, was part of the prominent Charleston family whose name now graces Middleton Place plantation and gardens. Over 200 years later, their exquisite Charleston SC mansion retains its grandeur and dignity, just one reason why Governor's House Inn has been recognized as the most elegant Charleston bed and breakfast and "one of the most romantic inns in America" .
